The Life List (2025)

The Life List initially looks like a typical glossy, feel-good drama. Pleasant to watch and also very forgettable. But once I got into it, the story surprised me. It's not just another romantic drama with a predictable arc. It's actually kind of healing. The story follows Alex, who inherits a list she wrote as a teenager after her mom dies. Her mom's wish is that she check off all the items on that list. As Alex stumbles through each item, the list becomes something more than a gimmick. It's a distraction that lets grief breathe a little while reminding you that life still has shape and color.

With its Hallmark vibes and parallels to P. S. I Love You, The Life List is a cozy, somewhat cheesy rom-com about following one's heart. Former Disney Channel star Sofia Carson offers a plucky and endearing heroine for viewers to rally around, and the film provides several genuinely touching, tearjerker moments as it probes a mother and daughter's bond. It will especially hit close to home for those who have lost a parent. While The Life List doesn't escape the melodrama and clichés of a typical rom-com, its performances and story are engaging enough for viewers seeking a light watch.
